Hong Kong is one of the two Special
Administrative Regions, which is part of the
People's Republic of China, the other being
Macau. On July 1, 1997, this area was officially handed over by the government of the United Kingdom to the People's Republic of China.

Before being turned over in 1997, Hong Kong is a colony of Great Britain. Under the One Country Two Systems policy creation Deng
Xiaoping, Hong Kong enjoys autonomy from the PRC government as the legal system, currency, customs, immigration, regulatory path that remains running in the left lane. Affairs are handled by Beijing is the national defense and diplomatic relations. Autonomy applies in Hong Kong (minimum) for 50 years counted from the year 1997.
